I've known Josh and Mel for a few years now - Josh and my husband Frankie work together in the Royal Australian Air Force and Mel and I met separately at the base community centre where we volunteered together. When Mel asked if I would photograph their special day I was so excited! Photographing a wedding for strangers is always an honour, but photographing this incredible moment for friends is on a whole other level.
There was lots of emotion, lots of laughs and lots of love - the best mix when it comes to weddings! Missing from the day was Mel's grandad, he is an incredibly important part of her life but due to ill health he was unable to make the trip over from South Australia. I made sure I captured some special moments for Mel to send to him, and even took a video on my phone of Mel sending him her love before she walked down the aisle. Josh's face the moment he saw Mel was priceless, and I'm so glad I captured the emotions he felt. Despite being rained out, these two are such a cheeky couple and I hardly stopped laughing the whole time! I love these photos so much, and I wish both Josh and Mel a lifetime of love and happiness.
